December

Christmas time is here~  House is decorated, need to do some baking & wrapping.  I am looking forward to spending time with my loved ones.  have had some friends with big losses of late and my heart goes out to them.  I am so very thankful for my family as crazy as it is I still have them all and love each one!

Fall 2011

Fall's splendor is all around us. the paths through the woods are covered with brilliant yellow leaves that have drifted from the sky, while the ferns are a golden hue of yellow & rust. Autumn glory Festival is this weekend in Oakland and it will be a chilly 52 degrees which will be fine if it doesn't rain. Skylar has been to Homecoming & is now in one of the lead roles in the play Wiley & the Hairy Man. I am hopeful for a nice weekend with family & Autumn fun!

Buckwheat Festival

Today I will attending the Buckwheat Festival .  School day parade, buckwheat cakes & sausage, crafts and fun.  I hope the rain holds off, the weather is calling for 50 degrees & windy!  The leaves & ferns have started with their brillant fall colors, so pretty in the West Virginia mountains!  Happy Fall Y'All!

Dog Days of Summer

Well here it is August and boy did we have a heat wave for July.  Cooler temperatures in the evenings now and sleeping with the windows open again!  Can't believe it is back to school time, Skylar starts back to school next week and Ryan back to college in a few weeks.  I sure do miss my little kids.  I am very happy that they are growing up healthy and becoming independant but I sure do miss my little ones!
Have been enjoying the deer, raccoons & birds at the house.  the bear only made one appearance so far, hopefully he  has moved on, very beautiful creature but when I can see him just outside my hearth room window,  that's a little to close for comfort!

Hot days of Summer

We have been having a regular heat wave, kinda unusual for us to be in the 90's & high humidity.  I am still ot complaining because just around the corner Ole Jack Frost is waiting for us!  Had a nice Landon family reunion this month & have been enjoying relaxing & grilling on the covered from porch.  Enjoying my sweet little great nephew & his abundance of curiousity!

Our friend Ray

 Our friend Ray passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. What a sweet, generous man he was. His smile and love of life will be missed greatly. He had military closing at the service and it was a very emotional thing to see these wonderful men & women in ther 70's & 80's dressed in uniform, still serving their country and saluting their commrade. Ray would have been very honored. Ray's light will shine on!

Good afternoon!

June is almost half over just cannot believe it!  School is out, renters are in and summer is drifting by.  Had some beautiful peaceful walks with my doggies in the woods.  Last few mornings have been rather cool with lows in the 40's, two weeks ago we were in the high 80's, kinda crazy weather but have enjoyed some nice cookouts & swimming in Mom & Dad's pool.  Hope you all are enjoying a wonderful summer.

May is here

Have not been blogging or on facebook for a while, busy times & migraines, theatre performances & awards shows, Easter, birthdays & Mothers Day, not to mention the best Dad in the worlds birthday on May 10th!  Hope you all are well and enjoying our springtime temperatures.  Fell so bad for the folks down south along the Mississippi, the devastation is terrible.

April Snow

Wow did we have some wild weather yesterday, sunshine, snow, thunder and more snow this is crazy!  I will have to say that last night when I turned on all of the outside lights and the snow was illuminated by those lights against the snow coverd trees it was absolutely beautiful!  I sure hope that was Mother Natures last big storm of the winter, let us welcome in spring !!!!!

March came in like a Lamb

Today is March 1st and is a beautiful sunny, but chilly day, yesterday however we had rain, sleet, snow, thunder, winds & just about everything else. Let's hope Mother nature was having her last big fit of the season & springtime & calm weather is here to stay .

Sunshine :)

Warm temperatures, blue skies and sunshine, love, love love!  Hubby & I went for a walk Wednesday & I actually have a few volunteer pansies coming up in a put, that little green leaf peeping out from the snow was a wonderful site!  I know that we will have more cold weather & I am suer a lttle more snow but this few days of sunshine gives out could hearts hope!  Happy Presidents Day weekend!

Bad weather Good movies

I always have things to do but what better to do on a cold yucky day than cuddle up on the couch with my girls, Sweetie & Callie because Skylar my teenager would rather do her own thing..... and watch good ole movies.  Watched a good one with Sissy Spacek in it called Hard Promise & then the Hallmark Hall of Fame with Betty White, what a tear jerker.  Sure did make me think about how I would feel if one of my loved ones was MIA and I didn't know what happened to them. I am sending out "Good Thoughts" to all who have endured this pain.

Another Snow Day

Wow we just keeping getting that white stuff!  We have not seen grass in months it seems like.  The snow that fell all day & night is a beautiful wet snow, yesterday it looked like someone was sifting powdered sugar from the sky.  I would say we got about 2 ft of snow this time.  Sure hope it quites.  Skylar has an audition for the Governers School for the Arts on Saturday and it is an hour and one half away, we don't need bad weather on top of nervousness!  I have been taking pictures of the snow & each time I do I think of my sweet little Grandma Landon, she lived 57 years in her house before moving in with her daughter & each winter she would take pictures of the snow on her pine trees.  She always said that when everything was snow covered and pure white everyone's house looked pretty, no one 's home looked poor & sad.  I sure do miss her & I guess I always will. Had a wonderful Sunday evening watching the Steelers win the AFC Championship & watching little Jeffery clapping & cheering made it even better!  Well hope everyone is warm & safe & please can we have some sunshine!?! :)

Another Snowy week for January

Well, the kids are off school yet again because Old Man Winter is letting us have it!  Snowy & blowing & cold, that about sums it up!  Hubby put my new exercise bike together last night & I rode 2 miles.  My goal is to do 2-5 miles a day, shouldn't be to hard in the evening when I am watching TV, but we shall see... wish me luck.  Looking forward to the Steelers game on Sunday, may go down and watch it with my Dad.... January 2011

Had a good evening last night visiting with Granny & Olive, they are so sweet together, they neither one can remember anything and repeat a lot of the same stories but are very content sitting side by side in their gliders.  My little Granny still has that spark in her eyes and I am content that she is living a comfortable life.  Then I went and enjoyed my sweet, entergetic & onery little great nephew.  Oh how I love my time with him he is so curious and his smile just melts my heart!
